Key Terms

As you continue to learn more about the world of AI, here are 15 key terms from this tutorial to remember:

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI): machines that can do things like humans
  2. Machine Learning (ML): a field in which AI learns how to do things without being told exactly what to do
  3. Deep Learning: a type of computer learning in which AI learns from examples, like looking at pictures
  4. Neural Network: a type of computer learning that processes information like the human brain
  5. Natural Language Processing (NLP): the ability to understand and use human language
  6. Robotics: machines that can move and do things without human help
  7. Computer Vision: computers that can see and understand what they see
  8. Supervised Learning: when AI learns from examples where they know the right answers
  9. Unsupervised Learning: when AI learns from examples where they don't know the right answers
  10. Reinforcement Learning: when AI learns by getting positive or negative responses
  11. Algorithm: a set of instructions that tell a computer what to do
  12. Big Data: huge volumes of data that computers can't understand easily
  13. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): a type of AI that can learn and do anything a human can
  14. Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI): a type of artificial intelligence that is designed to perform a specific task or set of tasks
  15. Ethics in AI: considerations about whether AI is being used safely and fairly
